Recovery & Rest
It’s so much going on in the world these days. The Wildfires in LA have been tragic and now we’re dealing with the after effects on air quality due to the chemicals burned off in the fires.
Trump is back in office ugh, and he’s issuing executive orders to end DEI, he “brought back” TIK TOK after he initiated the ban in the first place, and he’s deporting immigrants! It’s all a mess and too much!
With this and much more to come I need rest, I need recovery, I need it all!
If it’s one thing I’ve learned in my 40+ years on earth is that I must take care of myself. Life never stops lifing therefore taking care of my health is my top priority!
I love working in the wellness industry, I’ve come to learn and experience products, services, and practices that keep my body operating in its most optimal and feeling good. Today I’m going to share the rest and recovery routines I do that keep me feeling good and that you can try too!
Sleep
First off SLEEP- Sleep allows the body to repair itself. We should be getting about 7-8 hours asleep a night. In my Mindful Stretch class I allow for active rest during the class. It’s a great opportunity to allow the participants to take time to just do nothing. Rest is vital to recovery, alleviating injury, improving mood, and reducing stress!
Suana
Particulary Infrared Red Suana. I love a good sweat and sweating in the infrared sauna can remove toxins and heavy metals from the body. With all the pollution, chemicals and day to day stressors detoxing the body is absolutely necessary.
Infrared Sauna helps with pain relief. I workout about 2-4 times a week including teaching class. By adding infrared to my recovery I experience a decrease in chronic pain and my skin glows!
Hyperberic Oxygen Chamber
This has come to be one of my favorite rest and recovery methods, I always fall asleep in the chamber -I told you I’m about REST lol!
HBO helps the body heal faster, by increasing oxygen concentration in the tissues. It improves brain function, and helps your immune system fight bacteria.
There is only one down side to the chamber, you can have ear popping like when you’re on an airplane. I felt popping the first time I did the chamber it lasted for about 5 minutes and then it went away.
Note If you are claustrophobic I would not recommend!
Compression Therapy
I love this therapy because it’s like a mechanical massage. The way the air fills up the boots and compresses into the targeted area of the body feels amazing. Here I’m using the leg attachment but there are various attachments for different body parts.
Compression Therapy is going to reduce swelling, improve circulation, and eases muscles soreness.
Try one or all of these out especially the sleep, that’s something we all have access to! No more powering through! Now is the time to really take better care of YOU!
